1. A theme meeting on Manufacturing of industrial Linacs by Indian industry is being organized at Raja Ramanna Centre for Advanced Technology (RRCAT), Indore on September 14, 2024 RRCAT, Indore has developed high energy, high power (10MeV,15kW) linacs for food irradiation and sterilization of medical devices. This technology, with some customization, is also useful for other applications like radiotherapy, industrial radiography of thick components, neutron radiography and cargo scanning. Linac manufacturing involves multi-domain component manufacturing, procurement, handling, testing, qualification. Indian industry is invited to take up Linac manufacturing in India under the “Makein INDIA” initiative to make INDIA Atma nirbhar in this high tech field.
2. Proud moment for India! You may be aware that Raja Ramanna Centre for Advanced Technology (RRCAT), Indore has successfully built and commissioned the first Free Electron Laser (FEL) in the country.
A theme meeting was organized on Science with Free Electron Lasers and high power IR-THz sources at RRCAT on 20 & 21 August, 2024 under the aegis of the Indian Society for Particle Accelerators (ISPA). In the theme meeting vibrant scientific discussions took place in different topics under the IRFEL machine technology and IR-THz spectroscopy community from different institutes, universities and organizations, including Industrial partners of all over the country.
A roadmap prepared by the Indian Accelerator Science & Technology community "Mega Science Vision-2035, Accelerator S&T and Applications" has been released.
